Week 1 Term 3

Catapults!

It has been a fun and productive first week back at school and we have been impressed with the hard work and enthusiasm we have seen.

At Investigation Time we had a focus on catapults. This led to discussions about what they are, why they are used and when they have been used in history. The class particularly loved the idea of trying to knock down castles! So we designed and made some catapults and also a castle that we could destroy.
Some children made targets and did some measuring to see how far we could catapult an object.
We also made a large catapult outside that involved a lot of problem solving, teamwork and discussion.
