Week 6 Term 1
Planting, drumming and sporting activities.
This week we thought we would solve the problem of not having enough Swan plants by growing our own. We have used a propagator to start the growth process – and hopefully will be able to move the plants outside when they are strong enough.
Some students showed an interest in the World map and the class marked on the map the country they or their family may have lived before they came to New Zealand.
The Rhythmic Interactive drumming session was amazing! It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and everybody did a wonderful job of repeating the rhythms.
The Year 1 and 2 students had their sports day at St Francis Xavier School – and although the weather wasn’t kind and we all got wet – the children were enthusiastic and responsible throughout. We are proud of them.
Most of our provocations this week have been based around investigating and creating musical instruments. We made drums and created our own instruments. We also made kazoos and plan to use our instruments for a percussion arts session on Friday.
Another wonderful and busy week in Room 16. I could hear some lovely music coming from your direction.
