Bug Hotels, 3D Bugs, Music, Embroidery and Teacher Traps!

What a super, busy week it has been in Room 16!

We have been learning all about Minibeast Habitats.  Room 16 spent the week researching different types of insects and bugs.  We also learnt which types of minibeasts live at Tawa School.

We then had to build our Minibeast Hotel.  This included measuring, sorting, problem-solving, learning new skills such as using an electric drill and working as a team.  There was a lot of wonderful discussions happening too.

Some students had a go at doing some embroidery which was a wonderful activity for our fine motor skills.

We made the most of the great weather and did some writing in the forest.

We had a go at making our own minibeasts and learnt how to tell the difference between an insect and other small creatures.

Some students even decided to make a teacher trap!  Perhaps they got that idea from all the spiders that we talked about during the week. :-)

Lastly, we had a wonderful treat as part of Arts Friday.  Blythe's mum, Jannah visited Room 16 and showed everyone all sorts of wonderful instruments as well as teaching everyone some songs.  It was a lot of fun.  Thank you, Jannah.
